Create a printable worksheet from photos

Manually crop questions from one photo, refine saved images, and create a printable PDF worksheet with MistakeKit for iOS 1.2.

The capture and image-editing steps below apply to iOS 1.2.

Start with a small, useful set

Choose three to six questions you want to attempt again. Keep the difficulty and subject reasonably focused, so the worksheet is something you can finish rather than another large collection you postpone.

1. Capture readable questions

Photograph the page in even light, keeping the camera parallel to the paper. Include diagrams and all the information needed to answer the question. If you already have images, import them from the photo library instead.

Crop unnecessary page edges and rotate the image until text is upright. Check small symbols, units, and labels before saving. Print optimization can improve contrast, but it cannot reconstruct a blurry photo.

For several questions on one photo, choose Crop Multiple Questions on the check-photo screen or in the full-screen crop editor. Draw the first box, then choose Add Question to frame another question. If you already adjusted a crop, it becomes the first question. You can select a box or its number to check the corresponding preview, and save up to 20 questions separately in the selected folder. Importing several photos still processes one question per photo.

Pinch to zoom and use two fingers to move the source photo; use one finger for crop boxes. Enter full screen for finer adjustments. While adding a box, existing boxes become dashed; the completed new box is selected automatically. You can also enlarge the processed preview to check small details.

2. Prepare the image

New questions default to Pure B&W. Switch to Original or Optimized if that keeps colors, faint text, or diagrams clearer. In multi-question mode, select each question to adjust its effect, writing space, or erasures as needed. For unwanted handwriting, use the manual white eraser carefully and inspect the question afterward. Undo or restore if you erase part of a diagram or printed prompt. The app does not automatically distinguish an answer from the question.

After saving, open a question from its folder and choose Edit Image to revise the crop, rotation, print effect, or erasures. Edits start from the first cropped image, before effects and erasures; the app does not separately keep the full-page source. Older questions start from their existing saved image and cannot recover lost content or colors. Save updates the same question; cancel leaves it unchanged.

3. Select and leave space

Save questions in your Mistake Book. Set writing space during capture or in question details: no extra space for a short question, or ruled space for an answer with several steps. Open Create and select the questions for your worksheet.

Open Layout preview, choose automatic, half, or full width, and adjust image size from 60% to 100%. The app arranges questions and paginates automatically; you cannot drag a question to an arbitrary position. Apply the settings to return to selection.

4. Generate and review the PDF

Choose A4 or Letter to match your paper, then choose Create Worksheet to generate the PDF. New PDF creation requires the trial or Pro entitlement. Check that the questions and writing areas are readable at the size you will print.

Open the sample A4 output to see a mixed layout. This sample is a real export from an earlier app version and may retain an older heading. It uses fictional Chinese-language math questions; imported question text is not translated by changing the app language.

5. Practice, then update status

Open the saved PDF in Worksheets to share, save, or print it. Complete the questions without looking at previous answers, then update their review status. Opening a document alone is not evidence that a question has been practiced.

If the result is not right

Before the first save, widen a crop if it clips a diagram. For a saved question, Edit Image can expand a later crop only as far as the initial cropped image. If the missing part lies outside that image, capture or import it again. Faint text may need a different print effect or a clearer photo. Existing PDFs do not update when you edit a question: create a new worksheet to include the changes. If the printer scales the page, check the PDF paper size and the printer’s paper settings. Keep a separate copy of any PDF you want to retain outside the app.
